On the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, at the head of the mammoth Victoria Falls, lies one of the world’s most extreme spots for a swim. Every year, hoards of adrenaline junkies trek up to “The Devil’s Pool” to tempt fate by bathing near the edge of a 360-foot straight drop.

According to the Daily Mail, swimmers come in droves during the dry season, when a jetty of usually submerged rocks provides a temporary barrier between afternoon leisure and terror. Rocks or not, what some call the largest, most dangerous Infinity pool relentlessly tests swimmers’ thrill-seeking resolve, as the Falls’ raging waters push them right to the edge of certain death.
