It takes a certain crazy bravery to trust in a parachute and jump off a cliff.

It takes something else to jump from a cliff, land on a narrow rock precipice, and then jump and pull again.

BASE jumper Mario Richards doesn’t succeed on his first try. After jumping from Dragon’s Nest, near Moab, Utah, Richards glides past his target, a sandstone tower called Kingfisher, on multiple tries. Each attempt is a dance with death.

And then he nails it.
