Avoid Becoming Roadkill

No matter where you live, having a bicycle is never a bad thing. Even in a city filled with commuters and an elaborate mass transit system, a bike can often be the quickest way to get around, quicker even than driving a car or catching a cab. Riding at night isn’t always the safest thing to do, however.

Reflectors help, but if you REALLY want to make sure that you and your pedal-powered ride are a visible variable on the road, you’ll want opt instead for Light & Motion’s Urban 500.

It’s a mountable *500 lumen* bike light that comes packing a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, for $159. You’ll get roughly 90 minutes of power off of a charged battery with the light set to its highest beam setting. Medium nets you 3 hours and low nets you 6. There’s also a power-conserving flash setting which keeps the light running for a solid 18 hours.

Remember: there’s no such thing as overkill when you’re spending money to ensure that you never become roadkill.
