Braving The Elements

Liquipel isn’t so much a gadget as it is a process that you can apply to your various gadgets that will protect them from the elements in extreme weather situations.

You’ll have to send your device off to have it treated, a process that permanently bonds with it at the molecular level. Once that’s done, you’ll never have to worry about accidentally dropping your smartphone into a tub of water, bubbling brook, vast ocean or really any body of liquid that might short out and ruin your techno-toy.

Only a select assortment of devices are supported for now, including the iPhone 3GS and newer, a handful of HTC phones, the Motorola Droid X/X2 and the Samsung Charge.

The process costs a minimum of $59 (more expensive options are available) and it’ll leave you without your phone for a few days. Once you get it back though, you’ll never again need to fear what inclement weather might do to it during those long, stormy camping trips.
