Meet Degree’s H1 Racing Team

After a three-year hiatus from the adrenaline-fueled sport of hydroplane racing, the USA Racing Partners team will be back in action this summer, competing in the annual Air National Guard H1 Unlimited Series alongside some of the fastest boats in the world.

Fueled by 3,000 horsepower, they’ll be skimming the surf at breakneck speeds of over 200 mph in Degree Men’s No. 88 hydroplane.

USA Racing Partners was founded in 1998 by the late Kim Gregory and his wife Debbie. After winning the third race they entered, the team quickly began to ascend the ranks of H1 Unlimited racing — going on to place second and third in National High Points Championship in 2000 and win the prestigious Gold Cup in 2004.

USA Racing took a break from competition after Kim Gregory’s passing in 2008, but now the team is gearing up to get back on the water — led by President /Owner Debbie Gregory, VP of Operations Adam Gregory and Director of Competition/Crew Chief Matt Gregory. No. 88 wouldn’t be going anywhere, however, without the newest member of USA Racing: driver Scott Liddycoat.

Liddycoat is a 19-year hydroplane racing veteran, 2011 H1 Unlimited Rookie of the Year and Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) World Champion. He will be taking the wheel for US Racing’s first race of the circuit at the Madison Regatta in Madison, Ind. on July 6th.

“The team Matt’s put together is incredible and I’m really looking forward to this season,” Liddycoat told H1unlimited.com. “I think we’re gonna have a really good year.”
