Extending the Alpenglow

Usually, the last run is the most dangerous of the day. Your legs are tired. You’re distracted — thinking about the jacuzzi that awaits or wondering which snow bunnies are going to show up at the bar. And the light is crap. At last light, giant crud boulders blend into fluff; It’s often a mystery what lies ahead of your board or skis.

But last light, or “alpenglow” as the video description calls it, can be breathtaking. That’s especially true when it hits mountains like those found in Haines, Alaska and illuminates pros like Stephan Drake, Forrest Shearer and Johan Jonsson.

Of course, even pros wipe out. Blame the snow bunnies.
