Most people have never laid eyes on a wave this large. Fewer have actually attempted to surf one, and only a sliver of those ever paddle into a monster like this.

Say hello to the 50-foot surf of Pe’ahi, popularly known as “Jaws.” Like most massive waves, this one owes its might to an underwater ridge that rises abruptly from the seafloor.

When a surge hits, the surface upswells and crests, attracting the best surfers on earth to this remote wall of water. If it barrells, they will come. And then they dominate, as you see in the video above.
