And you thought the Winter X Games were over. Think again. And think backcountry.

For the first time ever, the X Games is paying respect (and cash) to snowboarders who ride rough out of bounds.

This is Real Snow Backcountry — just like Real Snow where riders vie for big cash prizes with their own 90 second street vids. But this time the playing field is mother nature’s herb garden.

Nine riders have submitted segments: Gigi Rüf, Nicolas Müller, John Jackson, Devun Walsh, Iikka Backstrom, Mathieu Crepel, Jussi Oksanen and Mark Sollors. $50,000 is on the line.

First round voting ended February 28, second round voting ends March 7, and final round voting ends March 15. Winners will be announced March 15 at Winter X Games Tignes.
