Great White sharks surprise surfers in El Porto, Manhattan Beach

A routine surf session off the coast of Los Angeles was interrupted when surfers stumbled upon a Great White breeding ground, suppling them with amazing footage and adrenaline-pumping sightings.

Luckily for surfers, these predators were mere six-foot-long pups, more interested in small fish and baby seals than bobbing surfers. A few of these sightings have been concentrated at the famous El Porto surf spot at Manhattan Beach, where hundreds of surfers vie for a taste of the swell on a forgiving beach break.

These fish have been seen in as little as four feet of water just about every day. The sightings are mostly reassuring, given that the creatures don’t seem interested in the humans, and no one has been hurt in Southern California this year.
